For nearly a decade, Ramiro has helped brighten celebrations across Los Angeles—one bouquet at a time.

After years working in construction under the California sun, Ramiro decided it was time for a change.

For the past nine years, he's been selling flowers near Western Avenue and Washington Boulevard, where bouquets become especially popular around holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.

Unlike many vendors I spoke with, Ramiro didn't dwell on hardships. When I asked about the biggest challenges of the job, he simply described the daily routine—cleaning buckets, trimming stems, replacing water, and keeping every bouquet looking fresh for customers.

The work starts early and relies on attention to detail. Every flower has to be cared for before it can brighten someone else's day.

Ramiro works alongside just one other person and spends his days helping customers find flowers for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, and everyday moments. Away from work, he's also the father of an eight-year-old child.

Talking with Ramiro reminded me that not every story has to be dramatic. Sometimes, building a business is simply about showing up every day, taking pride in your work, and helping people celebrate life's biggest moments.
