Tijuana Style, South Bay Roots

Taqueria El Compita brings the flavors of Tijuana-style street food to communities across Southern California.

When I visited, I spoke with members of the team who help keep the business running day after day. While they didn't describe themselves as owners or founders, they spoke proudly about the food and the customers who continue to support the business.

Today, Taqueria El Compita operates from four locations, including its Carson location on Figueroa Street. The business is best known for its carne asada, which remains the most popular item on the menu.

What stood out most during our conversation was their appreciation for the people they meet. When asked about their favorite part of the job, their answer was simple: the customers. Building relationships with regulars and meeting new people keeps the work enjoyable.

Unlike many vendors who spoke about permits, long hours, or other obstacles, the team described the business positively and said things were going well.

Sometimes, success isn't defined by a single dramatic story. Sometimes it's simply about serving good food, building loyal customers, and continuing to grow one location at a time.
